German Development Agency (DED) is helping in the establishment of a snake park at Ha Hlapalimane, in the Qacha’s Nek district. 

The M45 000 project was started by a student at Makhaola High School, Nkhooa Molahlehi, who has so far collected over 100 of non- and poisonous snakes, according to the German organisation’s HIV/AIDS adviser, Mr. Jan Emmel. 

According to Molahlehi, he initially started the project as a way of protecting the snakes from wild fires. He would later release them back into the wild when he though they were capable of fending for themselves, he said.
