The Prime Minister Mr Pakalitha Mosisili and the Japanese Ambassador to Lesotho Mr Poshinori Shugeie will officiate at a sod turning ceremony at a school at Ha Abia, Maseru on April 07 to mark the launch of Lesotho-Japan Primary Schools project.

Chief Information Officer at the Ministry of Education and Training, Mrs 'Makopano Semakale said the project entails construction of 17 primary schools, 12 of which will be in Maseru and the rest constructed in the Berea district.

The Lesotho-Japan Primary Schools Project is a response by the Japanese government to the influx of pupils brought about by the introduction of the Free Primary Education (FPE) in the year 2000.

The M60 million project that started in February this year, is expected to be completed by January 2006.
