The
late deputy leader of Lesotho People's Congress (LPC) Mr. Shakhane Mokhehle
was buried in Teyateyaneng after a service at the St. Agnes Anglican Church
in the town, on October 29.
Prime
Minister Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili giving condolences said the late Mr.
Mokhehle had lived, worked and fought for peace and justice of his country.
He was a hero.
Mr.
Mosisili appealed to Basotho to remember all the good things Mr. Mokhehle
had done towards the development of the country rather than think about his
weaknesses.
The Principal Chief of 'Mamathe Chieftainess 'M’aSenate Masupha said the
deceased was a religious man who always put his faith before God and that
belief inspired him to be a powerful man who faced all challenges,
developmental and political, without fear.
Leader of LPC Mr. Kelebone Maope said Mr. Mokhehle contributed a lot to the
amendment of the country's constitution, which now enables Basotho to live
peacefully. He did not discriminate people when dealing with human rights
issues.
On behalf of the country’s political parties, Dr. Khauhelo Raditapole hailed
Mr. Mokhehle as a powerful and disciplined political leader who always
worked in accordance with Congress tradition.
The LPC deputy leader Mr. Mokhehle died in Maseru on October 16. He is
survived by his wife and three children.
