New Boats for Senqu, Senqunyane

Communities along the Senqu and Senqunyane Rivers have been provided with six boats to be used as transport across the rivers. Minister of Public Works and Transport, Mr. Popane Lebesa, handed over the boats to Members of Parliament for the constituencies of Qaqatu, Ketane, Hloahloeng, Mount Moorosi, Lebakeng and Thaba Tseka on May 1.

The boats, worth more than M200 000, were part of government’s social responsibility programme, the Minister said, also announcing that waiting stations and platforms would be built at crossing points on the rivers.

Member of Parliament for Thaba Tseka, Mr. ‘Nyane Mphafi, accepted the river transport on behalf of the affected communities.
