The 2005
National Agricultural Show will be held at the Ha Foso Show Grounds from
June 6, a press statement from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security
has said.
The statement said the show is a culmination of area and district based
exhibitions, whose purpose is to promote available produce, motivate
farmers, create awareness of the local production capacity as well as to
sell products.
The expected results of this event include provision of an opportunity to
put across research results, use of new technology and to create business
opportunities.
'The exhibits come from farmers and entrepreneurs of the ten districts,
private traders, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), dealers in
agricultural inputs, processors of agricultural produce, schools, young
farmers' clubs and women groups.'
The Agric Ministry said the show will be preceded by a buyer and seller
meeting bringing buyers and producers together for initial business contacts
as well as to provide a forum for discussions on ways and means of
improving product quality and distribution channels.
Some of the activities lined up during the duration of the show include
Correctional Service and Military displays and products to be exhibited
include handicrafts, field crops and livestock.
Prizes will be awarded on the last day to the winners. The show is an annual
event where farmers exhibit their produce and share experiences.
