| Suspected Male Ward Gunman Surrenders to Police | |
| The
man suspected of shooting and killing a patient at Queen II Hospital in
Maseru on January 10, has surrendered himself to the Thaba-Tseka police. Superintendent Mpota Nthako of the Police Headquarters in Maseru said the man, a resident of Sekiring, Thaba-Tseka, surrendered himself to the Thaba-Tseka police on January 11. He is to be transferred to Maseru, where the offence was committed, Superintendent Nthako said. It is alleged that the suspect and the deceased had quarreled over the sale of a vehicle by the one to the other, which later resulted in a fight at Ha Laka, Thaba-Tseka on December 26,2004. During the fight the deceased was shot and stabbed with a knife and admitted at Paray hospital with serious injuries. The deceased was transferred to Queen Elizabeth II hospital in Maseru. The suspect, who had by then been arrested by the Thaba Tseka police, escaped from custody, followed the deceased to Maseru where he allegedly found him in a male ward and shot him three times in the head. The suspect is expected to
appear before the Maseru Magistrate Court soon to face charges of murder and
assault. |
