Makateng Has a Case to Answer, Judge
Ex-police Sergeant Thabang Makateng has a case to answer before the Lesotho High Court as crown evidence has placed him at the places where the alleged offences took place.

Refusing Sergeant Makateng's application for a discharge from the charges of murder, attempted murder and kidnapping against him, following the police disturbances of October 31, 1995, Justice Thamsanqa Nomngcongo said crown witnesses had given evidence about seeing Sergeant Makateng with police officers who reportedly attacked and surrounded Lieutenant Colonel Marabe Penane' office.

The application was launched by defence counsel Advocate Thulo Hoeane who asked the court to discharge Sergeant Makateng  without him getting into the witness box to testify, because the crown has failed to establish a case against him. Sergeant Makateng then went into the witness box to testify.
