Marematlou Freedom Party in a Leadership Struggle

The Magistrate court heard arguments in a power dispute between two camps of the Marematlou Freedom Party (MFP) on November 16.

The two camps both claim to be the rightfully elected members of the MFP's National Executive Committee (NEC).

Applicant, Mr. Montša Mofube, argues that he was lawfully elected as a General Secretary, during the party's annual general conference on September 16 and 17.

On the other hand, six members of the party who are the respondents, namely, Mathibela Seipobi, Sekhonyana Molapo, 'M'atieho Nthabane, Hlephola Phakoe, Botlebosele Makhele, and Khotso Lehloka claim they were also legally elected to the NEC during the annual meeting of September 9, this year.

The court is yet to set a date on which it will make a ruling on the matter. Advocate Molefi Ntlhoki legally represents the applicant, while Advocate Tahleho Molefi, represents the respondents.
