| Lesotho Invites Foreign Direct Investment | |

A delegation comprising representatives of the Ministries of Finance and Development Planning; Trade and Industry; the Lesotho National Development Corporation and the Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation has just returned from the Ninth China International Fair on Investment and Trade (CIFIT), held in the People’s Republic of China from 7 to 9 September, 2005. As well as taking part in the International Fair, exhibiting a variety of products including textiles and handicrafts, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Timothy Thahane, also presented a paper at a seminar on “South-South Cooperation and Investment in Africa”. In the paper, Dr. Thahane explained invited foreign direct investment by Chinese business. There were a number of opportunities in the textile and tourism industries, as well as in Southern African Development Community and Southern African Customs Union markets, he said. The delegation also included the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mr. Mohlomi Rantekoa; the chief executive of the LNDC, Mr. Peete Molapo and senior officials from the LTDC and the Ministry of Trade and Industry. 14 September 2005 |
