Lesotho Mounted Police Service to Unveil its Strategic Plan

The Lesotho Mounted Police Service is soon to unveil its strategic plan, including plans on how to fight crime as well as corruption within the Service.

Minister of Home Affairs Mr. Lesao Lehohla, answering questions in the National Assembly on September 28, said a police operational plan would be established to address issues to do with crime. For police allegedly involved in crime, the Minister asked that they be reported so that legal steps can be taken against them.

Mr. Lehohla was responding to a question by the Member of Parliament for Thaba Tseka Mr. 'Nyane Mphafi, who wanted to know if the Minister was aware that police operations in Thaba Tseka have not done much to curb crime such that residents claim that some police officers are actually involved in crime.

Mr. Mphafi also asked the Minister to disclose progress made in implementing the police charter.

As regards special police operations to fight crime, police have recovered and confiscated many stolen goods and items, the Minister said.
