Hijack Attempt Results in Death
An attempted car hijack resulted in the death of one of the hijackers in an incident along the Mpharane, Leribe, road on May 28, according to Senior Inspector Ts'eliso Ts'ita of the Maputsoe police.

Senior Inspector Ts'ita said the four hijackers, two men, a woman and a teenager, allegedly forced a taxi driver to take them to Mpharane after earlier asking to be taken to Ha Moholisa. A struggle ensued during the attempted hijack in which one man was fatally stabbed with a knife.

The deceased is said to have been recently released from a South African jail for a car theft offence. He is reportedly also notorious along the Maputsoe border post as a bag snatcher.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the death.
