Lesotho will be able to send at last two boxers to the African Amateur
Boxing Championships, to be held in Casablanca, Morocco, from May 25 to June
10, this year, according to the Lesotho Today newspaper.
The newspaper, quoting a radio report, said this has been made possible by the country's performance at the Zone VI boxing championships held in Bloemfontein, South Africa, recently. Welterweight Moses Kopo and Mosolesa "Fire" Tsie (middleweight) both from the Lesotho defence Force boxing club, won gold medals at the Bloemfontein tournament and have thus qualified for Morocco. Three other Lesotho Amateur Boxing Association boxers won bronze medals. In another development, LABA president Victor Mohapi and sports organiser Takatso Ramakhula have been elected into the Zone VI executive committee. Mohapi has been elected vice president and Ramakhula an ordinary member, The positions are for a four year period. 21 March 2005 |
