Festival to Highlight Role of Family

This year's Morija Cultural festival will feature activities that acknowledge and raise awareness of the important role families play in nurturing and developing the nation, according to the organiser of the Festival.

Festival spokesperson, Mr Mokoenya Chele told the Lesotho News Agency (LENA) that it has been agreed that the theme for this year's would be family, cornerstone for a nation ('Lelapa, motheo oa sechaba'), which theme has been prompted by the realisation of a decline in Basotho family values.

It was hoped that with this theme cultural family values will not only be promoted but that people will be made aware of the importance of families in nation building.

The Festival's organizing committee is currently designing a suitable programme, one which took into consideration activities that demonstrate social responsibilities of families as well as those that help bring solutions to problems such as separation of families and conflicts.

The Morija Cultural Festival is an annual event aimed at promoting the culture of the Basotho nation. This year, the festival will be held from September 29 to October 2.
