German Development Agency, Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst Lesotho (DED), and the Lesotho Brewing Company (LBC) have on September 14 signed a memorandum of understanding on a public private partnership through which the two will jointly identify and finance projects of benefit to needy communities.

A statement by the two organisations said recognising that the private sector is the main engine for economic growth and employment creation, DED and the LBC will assist programmes that include skills development, production and logistics, natural resource management, and HIV/AIDS. 

The collaboration with LBC is the first such programme by DED, which has worked in Lesotho since 1979. Beer and soft drinks producer, the Lesotho Brewing Company, commenced production in 1982.
