Chieftainess 'Majoele Mopeli Appears Before Chieftainship DC
  The Principal Chief of Botha-Bothe, Chieftainess 'Majoele Mopeli has appeared before a Ministry of Local Government disciplinary committee accused of neglecting her duties. Judgement is expected to be delivered on January 28.

Among the serious charges levelled at Chieftainess 'Majoele are included that she was last in office on January 31, 2004; that on several occasions refused to attend chiefs' meeting when requested as well as not intervening in matters that needed her attention. She is also accused of absenting herself from the Senate's daily proceedings.

The prosecution asked the committee not to be lenient and punish the chief for neglecting her duties. People were denied their right to services by these actions.

The Principal Chief entered a plea of not pleaded guilty to all charges. Her husband, Chief Kuini Mopeli was in 2000, suspended from the chieftainship for 15 years.
