COSAFA Exposes Makoanyane X1 to International World

Makoanyane XI caught the eye of international scouts at the Council of Southern Africa Football Association (COSAFA) Youth championships which ended in Durban, South Africa on December 11.

Makoanyane XI earned a silver medal as runner up to winners Madagascar in a final played at the King Zwelithini stadium in Durban.

Manager Ts'iu Monne said at least three players: Dlomo Monaphathi, Motlalepula Mofolo and Lehlohonolo Ncheba have attracted the attention of international scouts and will be going for trials in Belgium early next year.

Bokang 'Lefty' Mothoana was also among the European prospects but had a problem in that he is still attached to a South Africa agent Mike Makaab who has already taken the player for trials overseas. Makaab had promised the player was to leave soon, Monne said.

They were about to enter into negotiations with Orlando Pirates, in whose development side Monaphathi, Mofolo and Ncheba are currently playing.

Monne said Lesotho will see a lot of players join clubs in Europe and other countries as he had an agreement with these international scouts to become their representative in the region.
