Central Bank Celebrates 25th Anniversary
  The Central Bank of Lesotho celebrates its Silver Jubilee  on Friday 28th January 2005, public relations officer Mr. Thato Mohasoa has announced.

The "two and a half decades of experience and growth" celebrations will include a symposium whose theme is "The role of the Central Bank in Macroeconomic Stability, Growth and Poverty Reduction: Have we won the battles but not the war?" The prime Minister, Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili is expected to deliver the key note address.

Governors of central banks in the SADC region, Kenya, Uganda, as well as leaders of other collaborative institutions such as the Chairperson of the Association of African Central Banks (AACB), and the Executive Director of the Macroeconomic & Financial Management Institute of Eastern and Southern Africa (MEFMI), as well as representatives of international financial institutions such as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) are expected.

Thirteen staff members will receive awards for 25 years of dedicated service to the Bank. Former Governors and Deputy Governors of the Central Bank of Lesotho have also been invited, Mr. Mohasoa said.
