Basotho dominated the Soweto Marathon, run in the South African city on November 6, winning three gold medals.

Lesotho Amateur Athletics Association and national coach Chaplin Mpomane said they won in female and male senior categories as well as in the juniors' race. They have been winning the marathon since its inception in 1994, he said.

"We are at an advantage because the race terrain is more or less similar to Lesotho," he said.  

‘Mamaroallo Tjoka won the 2005 Old Mutual Soweto marathon in a time of 2:49:45 to win the M50 000 prize money. Tsotang Maine was first in the men’s section in 2:20:15.
