| WASA Warns of the Possibility of a Continued Drought | |
| The
Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has appealed to residents of all 15 town
centres in which the Authority operates to adhere to the water restrictions
announced due to the prevailing drought conditions in the country.
In a press statement, WASA urged people to stop washing cars, watering garden and lawns in order to conserve the little water available because it is difficult to predict when and how much the rain there will be. The Authority's water sources are at this moment about to dry up, the statement said. In Maseru, the Mohokare River, the biggest source of water for the city, has ceased flowing with the main water storage at Maqalika left with approximately 40 percent of water supply. The other town centres mostly affected are Roma, where water supply to the National University of Lesotho is already a problem; and Botha Bothe where areas such as St. Paul, Makopo and Phaphama are already receiving water only at night. 19 November 2004 |
