Tsekoa in Cuba Next Week

  The Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohlabi Tsekoa will o  November 6 lead the country's delegation to the third session of the Joint Commission for Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation between Lesotho and Cuba, to be held in Havana from November 8 to 9.

A press release from the Ministry said that the Commission is expected to discuss issues including  continued cooperation in the health sector; extension of the human resource training programme;
future cooperation in the field of provision of domestic water supply as well as cooperation in the Local Government sector.

Other areas of cooperation are the tourism sector and the training of personnel in various agricultural disciplines.

Lesotho and Cuba entered into a general agreement on cooperation in 2000, whereby the joint commission was established. The Commission's main task is to monitor and ensure that
activities agreed upon between the two countries are met and accomplished. Its inaugural session was held in Havana in April 2002, and met again in Maseru in July 2003.

The Lesotho delegation includes the Minister of Health and Social Welfare and  Principal Secretaries of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs; Health and Social Welfare; and Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation as well as other senior government officials.
