Thoahlane, Ralitsie in Zimbabwe

  Two Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) executives are in Zimbabwe for this week's annual general conference of the Electoral Commissions Forum (ECF) of the Southern African Development
Community (SADC) at the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. 

A statement from the IEC said Commission chairman Mr. Leshele Thoahlane would attend  a meeting of the executive committee of the ECF and was invited in his capacity as chair of the executive committee of the the Forum as well as of the local IEC. Mr. Khothatso Ralitsie attended the Chief Electoral Officers or Directors' meeting. 

The annual general conference, officially opened by the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Mr. Robert Mugabe,  was expected to discuss among other topics, countries' reports and the organisation's financial, secretarial and reports.

ECF member states include representatives from electoral commissions of SADC: South Africa, Lesotho, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Botswana, Malawi, Tanzania, Swaziland, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
