Third female Justice of Lesotho High Court Sworn In

 

Another female Justice of the Lesotho High Court has been sworn in, bring the number of  woman judges to three. Acting Chief Justice Mr. Baptista Molai officiated the swearing in of Ms. Nthomeng Majara as an Acting Judge on June 15. The other two are Justices Kelello Guni and 'Maseshophe Hlajoane.

Ms. Majara comes into the position after years of serving through the levels of magistrate third, second  and first class as well as resident magistrate. Having also worked as an advocate and in a consultancy researching the legal situation in Lesotho, she will still head the internal affairs department of the Lesotho Revenue Authority.

A member of the Association of Women Lawyers in Lesotho (FIDA), Ms. Majara has also been a lecturer at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) and a member of the board of the Institute of Distance and Continuing Studies, formerly the Institute of Extra-Mural Studies (IEMS).
