Road Fund Secretariat Goes Public
The first of several district level workshops organised to publicise the Road Fund was held in Mafeteng on January 12.

Executive Secretary of the Road Fund, Mr. Potlako Peko, speaking at the workshop, revealed that among the  Road Fund Secretariat's functions is the responsibility to collect revenue from road users in order to finance roads expenditure programmes.

It is important for road users to pay revenue because this enables the maintenance of roads. When roads are in good conditions, transport also becomes easy, Mr. Peko said, appealing to participants at the workshop to discourage children from destroying road signs which he said were crucial in reducing accidents.

Workshop participant and Member of Parliament for the Thaba Ts'oeu Constituency, Mr. Senngoe Monyetsane said the workshop has been important as it taught participants, especially MPs, the correct procedure to follow when they need to apply for assistance in road construction or maintenance in their
constituencies.

Similar workshops are to be held in the other districts before the end of the month, Mr. Peko said.
