Parliamentary reforms committee is established
 

The Parliament of the Kingdom of Lesotho has established a thirty-member Parliamentary Reforms Committee (PRC) whose mandate is to spur a reform process to enhance the effectiveness of Parliament so that it can play its constitutional role in the national governance system by ensuring that the political, social and economic priorities are anchored in broad based consensus in society. 

In pursuance of this task, a two days start-up workshop for Members of the PRC, Presiding Officers, the Clerks and support staff was held at the Maseru Sun Hotel from Thursday 30th September to Friday 1st October 2004. 

Amongst other things, the workshop was to finalize the terms of reference for the Committee and agree to a general and broad road map. Both of these objectives were accomplished. 

The PRC comprises representatives from each of the ten parties represented in the National Assembly and it is chaired by Hon. L. Rakuoane.

An official launch of the parliamentary reform process is expected soon.
