Nominations for King's Birthday Honours to be by communities

Nominees for the annual King's Birthday civilian honours and awards will beginning this year have been through selection by communities, the Maseru District Secretary, Mr. Moeketsi Masoleng, has announced.

The District Secretary said the recommended nominees should be ordinary people, including youth, adults and elderly, who have performed feats worthy of special mention in such sectors as health, education, agriculture, security, volunteerism, self reliance and income generating activities.

Nomination forms can be picked up from the offices of the country's 22 Principal Chiefs or  the District Secretary's offices in their respective districts. The completed forms should be returned on or before February 14 and will be screened in each district before being forwarded to the cabinet Office in Maseru, Mr. Masoleng said.

This process was being started to ensure the participation of communities in the selection of those deserving honour for their contribution in the development of their areas and the country as a whole, Mr. Masoleng said.

The King's Birthday is on July 17.
