New Principal Chief for Leribe !

The new Principal Chief of Leribe, Chieftainess 'Mamosa Molapo Mots'oene, was installed into office by King Letsie III on May 14.

The King said by bearing witness to Chieftainess 'Mamosa taking her vows, the people of Leribe should also make a commitment to support the new Principal Chief as she will not be able to manage her responsibilities without their support. She also needs their love and respect, as she is still young, he said.

King Letsie III told the new Principal Chief to place her trust in God so that He guides and comforts her in all her family and work related problems. He said gratitude should also go to Chieftainess 'Mamolapo Bolokoe Mots'oene for having supported the new Principal Chief since the death of her husband and for moulding her into somebody to be trusted with being a Member of the Senate, which is not an easy task.

Taking her vows, the new Principal Chief said it is her wish to serve the Leribe community with love and peace. She expressed her thanks to the Molapo and Mots'oene families for having chosen her to lead
the Leribe people as their Principal Chief. This would not be too difficult with their support, she said.

The Minister of Local Government, Dr. Ponts'o Sekatle said the new Principal Chief has taken a vow to lead the Leribe community in promoting peace and stability in her area. Dr. Sekatle encouraged Chieftainess Mots'oene to actively take part in the fight against HIV/AIDS by helping support groups in Leribe engage in activities to help the affected and infected.
