Ministry of Employment to Survey Child Labour Practices in Lesotho.

A month long survey on child labour in Lesotho is to be initiated this month, the Ministry of Employment and Labour has announced.

In an interview with the Lesotho News Agency (LENA), Information Officer, Mrs. 'Mampiti Lekholoane, said the survey, conducted in conjunction with the Bureau of Statistics aims at finding the number of children between the ages of five and 17 in employment.

The survey, taken randomly throughout the country, would also look into the types of jobs these children are doing. The results of the survey will be used to measure the prevalence of child labour in the country so that appropriate measures may be taken, she said.
