MCC Tells Vendors to Get off the Streets

Vendors are to return to their designated areas along Kingsway or face the wrath of the Maseru City Council (MCC) and the police, Public Relations Officer Mr Ts'epo Mareka has warned.

Most street vendors have returned to Kingsway after the light and suspended sentences given by the courts after the Council had charged them with illegal trading. The vendors considered the light sentences a victory that was almost a signal for them to return to the streets.

The MCC had built convenient places from where they should be trading and will insist that they carry out their business here and nowhere else, Mr. Mareka said.
