LeFA President Dies in Road Accident |

President of the Football Association (LeFA), Thabo Makakole, died in a car
accident on the Thuathe Plateau, Berea district on Novenmber11, his deputy
Salemane Phafane, has announced. Makakole, who was also President of the Lesotho Sports and Recreation Commission, an umbrella body of the different sporting disciplines in the country, had jus a few hours earlier arrived from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, where he has presented Lesotho's case against accusations by Zimbabwe that the country had fielded an over age player in their recent Youth Championships encounter in Maseru, which Lesotho had won 3 - 0. Phafane said LEFA was negotiating with the late Makakole's family for the association to take over funeral arrangements. Minister of Gender, Youth and Sports, Mrs. 'Mathabiso Lepono, in a statement to the National Assembly, paid tribute to Makakole, extolling his dedication to sports, especially soccer development in the county. 15 November 2004 |
