LRA Appoints New Customs Commissioner |
|
|
The Lesotho Revenue Authority (LRA) has announced the appointment of a new Commissioner of Customs and Excise. Mr. Thabo Letjama will formally assume office in December 2004. Prior to his appointment, he was Director of Finance and Administration. Mr. Letjama succeeds Mr. Thabo Khasipe, the former Commissioner Customs and Excise who was promoted to the position of Deputy Commissioner General in September this year. Amongst the many challenges that the new commissioner faces are the harmonization of border procedures at all ports of entry as well as to jealously guard and monitor Lesotho’s share from the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) revenue pool. The new commissioner joined the LRA in December 2002 as Director of Finance and Administration. A chartered accountant by profession, Mr. Letjama served as Financial Manager at Telecom Lesotho and also worked for several years at KPMG as an Auditor before joining the LRA at its inception. 16 November 2004 |
