As the ruling Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) heads for its annual general conference, to be held at the Cooperatives College in Maseru from January 30 to February1, 2004, General Secretary Mr. Sephiri Motanyane has refuted allegations of a split within the Party. Responding to the allegations, Mr. Motanyane said some people confuse differences of opinion with a split. There might be minor differences on issues relating to elections, but these do not mean differences in policy, he said. The annual general conference will not only discuss the General Secretary and the Treasurer's reports but also reports from the constituencies. It will also elect the 2004 executive committee, Mr. Motanyane announced, stressing however that the election will not include that of the party leader, who is elected for a five year period. 14 January 2004 |
