The last preparatory meeting before finalisation of the Vision 2020 document will be held at the Lesotho National Convention Centre, Maseru, over two day, from June 9 to 10. King Letsie III, in an address on Lesotho Television on May 31, invited the nation to participate in this last preparatory meeting, showing how it was from the meeting that the nation's views and aspirations would be encapsulated in a final draft that would point the way forward for government in its plans and activities. This last lap comes after the completion of the national consultations undertaken by the National Vision 2020 steering committee, mandated to seek Basotho's views from the grassroots level on what they envisioned for the country by 2020. The first consultative meeting in 2001, asked government to establish a committee to ensure implementation of proposed national goals and objectives towards the year 2020, which committee's initial assignment would be to prepare the Vision 2020 document. "I am proud to announce today that the committee has undertaken its duties as expected hence the production of a preliminary vision 2020 document. I wish to wholeheartedly thank them for a job well done as well as the nation for making their difficult tasks easy to carry out" the King said.
