Inquest into the Death of Chief Seeiso Maama Resumes
An inquest into the death of the late Principal Chief of Ha Maama, Chief Seeiso Maama, allegedly shot by unknown people at his home at Roma on October, 1, 1996, continued in the Magistrate Court on December 22.

Testifying, Mr Raboreiti Seleteng, who worked at the Chief's office then, said Chieftainess 'M'amabela Maama told him about the death of her husband on the day following her husband's death. Chieftainess 'M'amabela professed not to know her husband's killers

She had asked him to accompany her to St. Joseph's Hospital, Roma, where she was going to see the deceased, but since he had to go via his home first, he found the Chieftainess had already left for the hospital, Mr. Seleteng said.

He was told by the Chieftainess's daughter, Thithiboea, that her father had called to her the previous night, telling her that he had been shot by people organised by the Chieftainess during her earlier disappearance during which time her whereabouts were unknown.

It was then that he remembered the Chieftainess's statement, the witness said. She had told him earlier that she wanted to get some boys from Matsieng to disable her husband, so that he would not be able to take up his position when it was time for him to be re-instated into the chieftainship. She  had been acting as regent during his suspension from the chieftainship.

It is headed by Magistrate Mrs 'M'aseforo Mahase.
