Dorcas Aid Lesotho now Humanitarian Relief Lesotho

Dorcas Aid International Lesotho has changed its name to Humanitarian Relief Lesotho as from November
2003, according to executive director Rev. Frank Makoro.

Announcing this at a media briefing on January 9, the Rev. Makoro said Humanitarian Relief Lesotho had changed its name because of internal conflicts within Dorcas Aid International Lesotho which started some three months ago.  They had decided to change their name so as to avoid being part of these past conflicts

Humanitarian Relief Lesotho will continue with its project for 2004, including general food distribution in the country, support for HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis patients, child care and feeding, orphan and vulnerable group
feeding as well as water supply projects where they work with government to address water shortages in the country.

The mission statement and objectives of Humanitarian Relief Lesotho have also been changed as the old were in line with those of Dorcas Aid Holland. Their constitution had not changed as it has always been different, he said.

Reverend Makoro also announced that Humanitarian Relief Lesotho had won a case in the High Court
of Lesotho Dorcas Aid Holland in a judgement made by Justice Maseshophe Hlajoane on January 08, 2004, which allowed them to continue using vehicles and facilities of the former.

Dorcas Aid International Lesotho started operating in the country in 2002 under the assistance of Dorcas Aid Holland.
