Construction of New National Library to Start in July |

Prime Minister Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili will officiate a sod turning ceremony
to mark the beginning of construction of the National Library and Archives
at the old national Library site on July 2.
A statement from the Ministry of Tourism, Environment and Culture said construction, funded by the Peoples republic of China to the tune of Renminbi Yuan (RMB 23,300, 000, 00.), is expected to take 14 months from its July commencement date. The Qingdao construction group of China will undertake the construction assisted by the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. Also expected to attend the sod turning ceremony will be the Ambassador of China to Lesotho Mr. Qui Bohua and senior officials of the government of Lesotho. The old National Library was taken down in March last year after the discovery of structural damage due to old age. The new building will be a three-floor building. 29 June 2004 |
