Chief Boshoane Sempe installed as  chief of Thabaneng, Mafeteng.

 

Thabaneng, Mafeteng has a new chief. Chief Boshoane Sempe was installed at a ceremony led by Principal Chief Lerotholi Seeiso on January 16,

To earn his subjects' esteem, the new chief would have have to respect and have a high regard of their opinions  first, chief Lerotholi cautioned the new leader, while he also requested the public to support the new chief in order that he is able to perform his duty as expected.


Chief Boshoane was coming into public service at a difficult time, with the nation is faced with serious problems that include hunger, poverty and drought. He should therefore strive to work for the welfare for his people, the Principal Chief  urged.

Speaking at the same occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Mr. Lesao Lehohla, who is also Member of Parliament for the Mafeteng Constituency, encouraged Chief Boshoane to study the Local Government Act of 1997, using it with the Chieftainship Act of 1968 for an honest and transparent administration 

It was very important for the new chief to be familiar with the Local Government Act since community councils will be established soon to strengthen duties of the chiefs with the establishment of  local government envisaged by the Act, Mr. Lehohla said.

Chief Boshoane, 40, is the third son of Chieftainess 'Mamakopoi Sempe and the late chief Lesaoana
Sempe who died in the year 2000.He succeeds his father in office.
