Central Bank of Lesotho  Public Notice

The Central Bank of Lesotho announces the withdrawal of the Five Maloti bank note from circulation with effect from 31 January 2004.

The Bank wishes to draw the attention of the public to the following:

1. The Five Maloti bank note shall continue to be legal tender in Lesotho until 31 January 2004

2. During this period, the public shall be expected to exchange the Five Maloti bank note for any other still in 

    in circulation.

3. With effect from 1 February 2004, the Five Maloti bank note shall cease to be legal tender

4. Notwithstanding (3) above, the Five Maloti bank note shall continue to be exchanged for any other

    currency still in circulation only at the Central Bank of Lesotho until 31 January 2009.
