PRIME MINISTER ATTENDS THE  UN GENERAL ASSEMBLY

 

The Prime Minister Mr. Pakalitha Mosisili has left the country on Saturday to New York, America where he will attend the 58th session of the United Nations general assembly from Tuesday to October 03.The United Nations general assembly is aimed at strengthening multilateral cooperation and maintaining the leading role of the UN in the world affairs. The important and pressing issues relating to world peace and development will be considered and discussed thoroughly by all member states at the session in order to achieve common grounds.

According to the press statement that was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs this week, the theme for the session is "Implementation at the national level of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)", and member states are expected to share their experiences in realizing the goals as set out in the millennium declaration. The release shows that during the session, the Prime Minister is expected to deliver a statement on Wednesday having participated at the high level meeting on HIV/AIDS on Monday.

The Prime Minister is  accompanied by his wife Mrs. 'Mathato Mosisili, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mohlabi Tsekoa, and Senior Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Mrs. 'Mamohlomi Seitlheko. The delegation  led by the Prime Minister will also be joined by the Lesotho Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Lebohang Moleko and the Lesotho Ambassador to Ethiopia and to the African Union (AU) Mr. Mosuhla Leteka.
