THE MINISTER IN THE PRIME MINISTER'S OFFICE DIES TRAGICALLY IN A CAR ACCIDENT
 


The Minister in the Prime Minister's Office and Member of Parliament for  Qhoali constituency, Mr. Bota  Vova Ben  Bulane died tragically on a car accident on Saturday 26 April, 2003. The accident occurred in the morning hours at Ha Lumisi in the area commonly known as Santeng  the Mafeteng district.

A report from the Lesotho Mounted Police indicates that Minister Vova's entourage, travelling on a four wheel drive Toyota Landcruiser  was travelling from Maseru  heading towards the South. It was when they reached the village of Ha Lumisi at around 7:40 a.m. when the driver on which the Minister was travelling, tried to overtake only to realise late that the vehicle in front took a right turn. The two vehicles subsequently collided and  Mr. Bulane MP died on the spot. Three  passangers including the driver were rushed  to Mafeteng hospital with serious injuries. The police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mpota Nthako says Mr. Bulane's bodyguard, who is also a member of the Lesotho Defence force  later died at the hospital.

Mr. Bulane MP first served in  the Government structures as the Minister of Health and Social Welfare after the May 1998  general elections. He was appointed Minister of Agric, Cooperatives and Land Reclamation after Cabinet reshuffle in July 1999. He tragically meets his death whilst serving in Cabinet  as the Minister in the Prime Minister's office. The deceased  is survived by 2 wives, sixteen  children and eleven grand children.

The remains of Mr. Vova Bulane MP will be laid to rest  on Friday 2nd April at Roma in the outskirts of Maseru. As a fallen Member of His Majesty's Cabinet, Mr. Bulane MP will be accorded  a State Funeral.
