PRESS RELEASE:LESOTHO TO PARTICIPATE AT THE LABOUR AND SOCIAL AFFAIRS COMMISSION OF THE AFRICAN UNION
 

PRESS RELEASE

  The first Session of the Labour and Social Affairs Commission of African Union will be held at Grand Baie, Mauritius from 10-15 April 2003. The Conference will commence with a preliminary meeting of experts from the 10th to the 12th of April. The preliminary meeting will address issues such as the way forward in implementing renewed continental and global commitments on children and preparations for marking the 10th anniversary of the International Year of the Family to be celebrated in 2004. The meeting will also discuss the report of the African Union Interim Chairperson on Activities of the African Members of the ILO Governing Body. They will in addition consider the agenda of the Ministerial Conference that will commence on the 12th April 2003.

  The Honourable Minister of Employment and Labour Mr. Clement Sello Machakela will be the head  the  Lesotho delegation comprising of  the Labour Commissioner Mrs. ‘Mamohale Matsoso, the representative of the Lesotho Employers’ Association Mr. T. Monaheng and workers’ representative Mr. Khotso  Mohale from COLETU.

  The delegation will leave Lesotho this afternoon while the Minister will leave on Friday this week.
