Lesotho Television Improves Reception

Lesotho Television is to instal a transmission tower on Souru Mountain in Qacha's Nek in early January 2004 to help widen the range of the national television broadcaster, the Broadcasting Department of the Ministry of Communications, Science and technology has announced.

Chief Engineer Motlatsi Monyane said the installation is expected to be completed in a month's time and that electricity was already available. Installation of a radio transmitter will follow soon, he said.

Mr.Monyane said about M3 million has already been set aside for the installation of transmission towers in Thaba Tseka, Semonkong, Mokhotlong, Thaba Putsoa Ha Mohale, Quthing, Mafeteng and Leribe. The towers in Thaba Tseka and Mokhotlong were near completion while the Quthing tower is next after the one on Souru.
