Christmas is a joyous time for children and most look forward to it as they know they will be getting clothes and presents from their families. But children in hospitals miss out on the spirit of Christmas and their parents. The Maseru Rotary Club ensured that the 84 children admitted to Queen Elizabeth II Hospital who may still be in hospital even on Christmas day celebrate theirs in style, at a celebration held on Tuesday. This was supported by food outlets Kentucky Fried Chicken and Nando's as well as the Lesotho Brewing Company who supplied children with food and toys. The hospital's Consultant Surgeon, Dr Aqeen Siddiqub said those children who might not be discharged to celebrate the Christmas at their homes were suffering from illnesses such as TB, malnutrition, diarrhea and who were injured in accidents.. A Spokesperson for the Maseru Rotary Club, Mr Kelebone Leisenyane said this event is expected to help ease the homesickness and loneliness as well as entertain the hospitalized children. This joyous event happens
annually starting from last year. The Club intends to spread the
celebrations over to the other hospitals in the country. |
