LESOTHO CULTURAL TROUPE IN BEIJING - MAY 2002
 
The theme of the festival - 'a Cultural Get-Together and Exchange' programme.
29 April 2002 saw the arrival of the Lesotho Cultural Troupe in Beijing, the People's Republic of China, for the 'Meet in Beijing' International Arts and Cultural Festival; an annual event of a themed programme of staged entertainment and culture from several parts of the world. The Lesotho troupe comprises 20 members including the officials and performers.
It was planned that, the festival involve 32 art and cultural troupes from 24 countries presenting a total of 109 performers. There were three countries in Africa registered to participate - Cameroon, Kenya and Lesotho, while the rest were Asian and European.
Plans were that, the Lesotho Troupe present two performances in Beijing on 03 and 04 May and two others in Taiyuan City on 06 and 07.
Members of the Troupe would be conducted on tours of historical places including, the Great Wall at Badaling, Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square.
The Lesotho Troupe is scheduled to leave Beijing for Lesotho on 10 May.
