WORLD VISION CYCLE RELAY COMES TO AN END

The World Vision HIV\AIDS cycle relay will be officially closed at the Butha-Buthe police football ground on Thursday 19 September, 2002. In an interview, the district AIDS task force chairperson, Mr Mthimkulu Macha said the HIV\AIDS cycle relay which started at Quthing on Monday this week is held with the objective of disseminating AIDS information to the people that the relay passes through.

He said as part of the closing ceremony, the St Charles hospital will educate people on home based care so that people could be in a position to take care of their relatives who are infected with the virus. Mr. Macha said the cyclists are made up of 120 international and 18 local cyclists who will also visit the Mapoteng and Kota area development projects before cycling to Butha-Buthe.

He said World Vision international in Lesotho marks AIDS day within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) using the cyclists to attract people's attention and then disseminate AIDS information to them, adding that this year's celebrations are held in Lesotho with the same objective. The closing ceremony has been organised by the Butha-Buthe AIDS task force and World Vision with the objective of sharing ideas and experiences. This is the first celebration of its kind to be held in the district.
