WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION DIRECTOR GENERAL HANDS OVER HEALTH EQUIPMENT
 
The Director General of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Dr Gro Harlem Brundtland has handed over adolescent health equipment to the administration of the Queen II hospital on Wednesday 04 September,2002. In her speech, Dr. Brundtland said by making avail this equipment, the WHO intends to help the ministry to improve services, especially the adolescent health corners. She said although the contribution is little, it is made with good intention.

In his acceptance speech, Dr Motloheloa Phooko thanked the WHO director general for finding time to tour the hospital and for assisting them with the equipment. Dr Phooko said the equipment is valued very much because of its usefulness and importance. The Minister said in his first days as minister of health, he visited some
of the health centres and got a chance to be informed of the importance of the adolescent health corners, and added that their usefulness are greatly valued by the communities they serve.

Dr Phooko appealed to staff to treasure the equipment and safeguard it, while making professional use of it for the benefit of the communities they serve. The equipment included computers and health equipment valued at more than M100, 000.00.
