QUEEN 'MASENATE SEEISO TO BE PATRONAGE TO LESOTHO NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE DISABLED (LNFOD)

Her Majesty Queen 'Masenate Mohato Bereng Seeiso will be officially introduced to the disabled at the International Disability day to be marked on December 03 at the Roman Catholic Church (RCC) grounds. In an interview, the Lesotho National Federation of the Disabled (LNFOD) Public Relations Officer Mr. Ts'eliso Leisa said Queen 'Masenate Seeiso will be appearing for the first time as the patron of the association. He said this follows a visit by the association to the Royal Palace recently to request the Queen to be the first patron of LNFOD and to notify the Queen about the Association.

Mr. Leisa said as part of marking the International Disability Day, speeches would be delivered by the invited quests and hosts, adding that songs and dances as well as dramas would be performed on the day. The PRO pointed out that the activities of this day will kick off with a march by the disabled persons which is expected to start at the Lesotho National Development Centre (LNDC) and go back to the starting point, saying the route is still to be agreed upon with the Police. "We will be holding placards bearing messages about disability as part of public awareness," he stressed. He said the international theme for this year is ''Disability awareness in action''.

Other special guests expected to attend this day include the Right Honourable Prime Minister, the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. The International Disability Day is marked annually throughout the world.

LNFOD was established in the country in 1989 with the aim of fighting for the rights of the disabled persons. Some of its achievements since it was established, LNFOD has been able to unite various people with disabilities and also fought for the accessibility to high buildings and roads, which are constructed in the Maseru city.
