Maile Mosisili, the 23 year old second son of Lesotho's prime minister Pakalitha Mosisili was laid to rest at his home in Waterfall, Qachas'nek on Saturday 16th February.

The diseased is reported to have been shot by unknown assailants in the evening on Monday last week. His body was recovered by police at the intersection of Mpilo Boulevard and Kingsway road near Victoria hotel at the capital, Maseru. Efforts were made to rush him to hospital but the doctors on call at Queen II hospital lost the battle to save Maile as he had already lost lot of blood from the gunshot wound below his left shoulder blade.

The family's spokesperson disclosed that Maile received a call on his mobile phone at or around 9:00pm in the evening, subsequent to the call, he indicated to his sister and the guards that he is going out to town. It was only at
around 1:00am when the police unfolded the sad story to the prime minister and his family after the leads towards Maile's identity were discovered from the travelling document he carried at the time of the accident.

When passing his condolences during the burial ceremony, King Letsie III appealed to the Prime Minister and his family to accept condolences forwarded to them and called them to have courage. The king also called on
law enforcement officers to ensure that the perpetraitors of this atrocious act are brought to book.

On behalf of the Government, the acting Prime minister and minister of education Mr.Lesao Lehohla said the killing of the Prime minister's son is intended to distabilise the Government and therefore said this act should not confuse the nation.

Amongst messages of condolences read at the occasion were from embassies of France and the Peoples Republic of China, ambassadors of Ireland and Italy, High Commissioner for India, British High Commission, South African High
Commission and the Organisation of African Unity.

Passing a vote of thanks on the same occasion the Prime Minister said he could not understand why his son was killed, especially when he was such a good character. He also acknowledged that he is aware that being a politician
made him an easy target, saying that those who fight him should not vent their anger on members of his family.

Maile was the last born son in a family of four children. He had recently graduated for a junior law degree and was, at the time of his untimely death, studying for an LLB degree at the National University of Lesotho. May
