OLYMPIC COMMITTEE PREPARES FOR ALL AFRICA GAMES

With the experience of inconveniences suffered by the Lesotho Olympic Committee as the result of late preparations for the Commonwealth games held earlier this year in Manchester, the Committee has embarked on early preparations for the coming All Africa Games to be held in Nigeria in October next year.

The Secretary General of the Committee,  Mr.Mofihli Makoele said they have started seeking funds for sports disciplines that will participate in the games to start preparing for the games. He said so far they have been able to get funding for Base ball players who have already started spending the money in practice for the coming continental games. He stated that the funding amounting to M250 000 has been granted to the committee by the Olympic solidarity.

Mr Makoele indicated that the Olympic Solidarity has shown interest of providing more funds for other sports in the country but he said the committee is unable to process that provision because other sports have not submitted their budgets for preparations for the games, despite the efforts the committee has made to push them to do so. He explained that the budgets are expected to cover camping, national and
international friendly games and other small training costs. The sport disciplines that will take part in the All Africa Games include Tennis, Boxing, Taekwondo and Athletics.
