| NEW APPEAL COURT JUDGE PROMISES TO MAINTAIN COURT'S HIGH STANDARD | |

He explained that, he learned a great deal from judges of the Court of
Appeal, during a two and a half years in which he worked with them. He said
their experience and knowledge of the law could not be matched. Justice
Ramolibeli pointed out that, his task would be made easier by the fact that
Lesotho has a commendable track record of respect for the independence of
the judiciary, which he said is amazing, taking into He commended the Lesotho government for its wisdom of having Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary, that he said are meant to provide checks and balances so that no single arm of government could become too powerful to the extent of abusing its power to the detriment of others. " This is a cornerstone for a true democracy and it is as such a very important constitutional principle, which the Appeal Court will uphold, " he specified.
In conclusion, the Appeal Court Judge thanked the law society and all legal
practitioners for the support they have given to him over the years both at
the Bar and Side Bar, as well as on the bench. He acknowledged that, history
would show that he was the first judge that was appointed to the bench on
the recommendation of the Law Society of Lesotho. Present at the occasion,

Justice Michael Ramolibeli was sworn in as the judge of Appeal Court, while
Acting Judge of the High Court Justice 'M'aseshophe Hlajoane was sworn in as
the judge of the High Court, during a swearing in ceremony that was held at
