NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LESOTHO EXPATRIATES NEVER TO EXPERIENCE RESIDENCE PERMIT PROBLEMS-THABANE

The Minister of Home Affairs, Mr. Tom Thabane has reassured expatriates Lecturers working at the National University of Lesotho (NUL) that they would never again experience the problems of permits to stay in Lesotho because his Ministry is working hard to eradicate the corruption which has been going on for a long time at the Immigration Departments.

The Minister was addressing the NUL expatriates at a meeting, which was held at Roma Campus on Wednesday 07 November,2002. This meeting was organised by the NUL management for the Minister of Home Affairs to respond to the concerns of the NUL expatriates in relation to their residence permits problems in Lesotho. The expatriates Lectures teaching at NUL had earlier this year lodged a complaint to the NUL management that they experience problems at the Immigration Offices saying that they always have to renew their Residence Permits in every two or three months and that the system inconveniences them in their academic duties.

Mr. Thabane reassured the NUL expatriates that his Ministry would arrange with the NUL management to see that no expatriate working at the University becomes a victim of corruption. "It is wrong to keep renewing residence permits in every three months and I reassure that will never happen again, so you may now stay in peace and work
without worrying about this immigration issues." The Minister said.
